Basrief denies conflict between prosecutors and KPK leader
Attorney General Basrief Arief denied an allegation that there had been an internal conflict between the prosecutors currently posted in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the commission leaders following a prosecutor’s dismissal.
“It is pretty normal that our prosecutors return to the Attorney General’s Office [AGO] once their duties there at the KPK are over.Maybe the so-called conflict is a figment of journalists’ imagination,” Basrief said on Friday.
The rumor surfaced when KPK chief Abraham Samad returned several investigators back to their original institutions because they had not followed orders. Fellow investigators then protested Abraham’s move. (asa/dic)
